2011 is the 4th year of the Local Government Awards Northern Ireland. With Councils submitting entries across seven categories and a total of 45 entries received, the number and quality of submissions has enthused all concerned. The high quality of services and initiatives put forward - as well as individual Councillors and Officers commitment - was readily apparent. The Award Partners would like to thank all Councils who submitted an entry.
The Local Government Awards Northern Ireland showcase the best examples of service provision, new initiatives and personal commitment from councillors and officers. The Awards offer public recognition while awarding excellence in our front line local government public services.
Six partners have joined together to provide the opportunity to assess and recognise best practice in the services and new initiatives provided within Northern Ireland’s councils. The judging panels look for evidence of best practice, innovation and service improvement while providing better outcomes for the service users. Judges this year had a demanding job deciding the list of finalists. This goes to show that Councils across Northern Ireland are doing us all proud by going the extra mile to deliver services to citizens and communities.
The overall winners of the 2011 Local Government Awards Northern Ireland will be announced at the gala awards dinner of the NILGA annual conference, where shortlisted Councils will be invited to attend. The event takes place on the evening of 23rd February 2012 in the Hilton Hotel, Templepatrick, Antrim and will be hosted by BBC’s Sarah Travers.
