Tackling Plastic NI

Free event to learn more about the impact of single use plastics and how are own actions, personally and professionally, can make a difference to the wider environment.

Elected members, central government and local council officers and partner agencies are invited to attend this free event to learn more about the impact of single use plastics and how are own actions, personally and professionally, can make a difference to the wider environment.

The significant detrimental impacts, globally and locally, of our current consumption and disposal of resources has been highlighted in many recent scientific reports as well as the media, culminating in Sir David Attenboroughs Blue Planet II, which raised public consciousness beyond tipping point. The NI Waste Management Strategy also opens with the statement that ‘Continuing our current patter of resource use is not an option’. Action is needed immediately to halt the inflow of toxic materials, particularly plastics, into our oceans.
