Attacks In Brussels Condemned

In response to the attacks in Brussels today, Alderman Carla Lockhart, President of the NI Local Government Association, stated:

“Another atrocious attack on democracy and the loss of dozens of lives in Brussels is an appalling atrocity which we wholeheartedly condemn.

On behalf of local government in Northern Ireland, we convey our deepest sympathies to the families who have lost loved ones.

We also pledge to work with, and offer support to our many colleagues in the City, including the Northern Ireland Office in Brussels, Committee of the Regions officials and members alike.

Our contempt for this attack is unreserved, as are our deepest sympathies to everyone affected.

We resolve to support, protect and strengthen local democracy in Brussels and anywhere else under threat of terror”, said Alderman Lockhart.
