HOUSEHOLD WASTE MANAGEMENT
As central and local government work dynamically to co-ordinate and deliver a range of vital services adapted to deal with Covid-19, a meeting of the Strategic Waste Partnership resulted in the following local government position, prepared by Chief Officers of councils and drawing on up to date policy and practical advice:
"While councils are under varying levels of community and/or political pressure, the majority view of local government appears to be that - pending a relaxation by Government on its restrictions or to the subsequent regulations - the rationale for recycling centre closure remains, with the focus in the interim on continued efforts to maintain a full range of domestic kerbside collection services".
This Partnership (and many others dealing with front line issues) are meeting on a very regular basis; any changes in guidance or policy will result in further assessment and review, where appropriate.
Local councils, as individual authorities, will dynamically and thoroughly assess all available information and guidance linked to local resource and risk management, so as to inform their decisions and as such some variations may occur, as is the case in all other regions.
