Speaking after the Economy Minister published the Mobile Action Plan for Northern Ireland, NILGA’s Head of Investment, Performance and Improvement Lisa O’Kane said:
“The publication of the Mobile Action Plan for Northern Ireland is an important next step in Northern Ireland’s digital connectivity journey. NILGA, as a co-production partner in this process and in the development of the plan, is conscious of the vital role that a strong mobile communications and digital infrastructure has for all our businesses, communities, and households across Northern Ireland. Councils will play a significant role in the roll-out of this plan, particularly on the planning side and ensuring that the right infrastructure is built in the right places for the benefit of all our communities, particularly in rural areas and those with poor or patchy digital connectivity.
“As we come out of the pandemic, with the world of work changed significantly, strong and reliable digital infrastructure will be more important than ever for attracting investment and creating and sustaining jobs, as well as allowing people to stay in touch with family and friends. Councils will work closely and productively with local communities to help deliver the best possible mobile and digital infrastructure bespoke for each city, town, and village across Northern Ireland.”
