Alderman Jim Rogers OBE, Ulster Unionist Party member for Belfast City Council.  Jim sits on the councils Strategic Policy and Resources Committee and the People and Communities Committee. 

Purpose

The Audit Committee Working Group’s role is to evaluate and scrutinise the framework of internal control and corporate governance. The Group receives assurances from accounting officers ensuring NILGA’s activities are within the law and effective system of internal control is maintained. Internal Control and Corporate Governance

  1. To evaluate and scrutinise the framework of internal control and corporate governance
  2. To review the system of internal control
  3. To receive assurances that NILGA’s activities are within the law and comply with best practice principles within Local Government
  4. To monitor performance and best value by reviewing the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
  5. To review the Chief Executive’s statement on internal control prior to issue to the NILGA Executive.

AuditTo review and approve audit plans, monitor audit progress and review audit reports.

Annual Report - To review and approve NILGA’s Annual Report prior to the submission to the Executive.

Risk - To review key areas of risk in NILGA’s activities and scrutinise the potential impact of key risks.
